Recipe Tip: Italian Classic: Strangolapreti - Falstaff

Top Recipe. All ingredients and tips for getting it right. Strangolapreti is a traditional Italian gnocchi made with budget-friendly bread and spinach.



    1. Step 1

      Cut the bread into cubes and soak in lukewarm milk for 3 hours.
    2. Step 2

      Steam the spinach for around 2 minutes, chop and toss lightly in butter and season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
    3. Step 3

      Add the grated parmesan cheese, eggs, salt and bread. Mix everything well with a wooden spoon and, if the mixture is too thin, add some breadcrumbs.
    4. Step 4

      Shape the mix into the desired form (balls, spoon shape or gnocchi-like) and place in boiling salted water for around 5-7 minutes
    5. Step 5

      When the dumplings float to the surface, take them out of the pan with a slotted spoon.
    6. Step 6

      Serve with plenty of parmesan cheese and foaming hot butter that has been infused with sage.
