Granita al Limone

Several ingredients can be combined to make lemon granita, which is refreshing and easy to make.

  1. Step 1

    Bring water to the boil in a saucepan, add the sugar and boil until dissolved, mix with lemon juice and zest and a pinch of salt, leave to cool.
  2. Step 2

    Pour into a suitable metal or enamel mould and freeze for 1 hour.
  3. Step 3

    Rough up the mixture with a fork. Freeze for a further 2 hours, then scrape through vigorously with the tines of a fork to make icy flakes.
  4. Step 4

    Cover with foil and freeze until further use. Up to this point, the recipe can be prepared up to 3 days in advance.
  5. Step 5

    Serve in scraped out lemon shells, halved and frozen.
