Meaning "little bowl of mush," this simple oat dish with nuts, seeds, and dried fruit is great at any time of day.
- Serves: 12 persons
- 4 cups rolled oats
- 1 ½cups raw walnut halves and pieces
- ½cup raw pepitas
- ½cup raw sunflower seeds
- ¼cup honey
- 2tablespoons olive oil
- 1 ½teaspoons ground cardamom
- ½teaspoon salt
- 1cup freeze-dried strawberries
- 1cup freeze-dried blueberries
- Milk or yogurt, for serving
Step 1Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 300 F.
Step 2Combine the oats, walnuts, pepitas, sunflower seeds, honey, olive oil, cardamom, and salt in a large bowl and toss well to distribute.
Step 3Line two half sheet pans (or a full size sheet pan if your oven is large enough) with parchment paper.
Step 4Spread the oat mixture out on the parchment-lined pans. Toast the muesli for 20 to 30 minutes. Check periodically to make sure the nuts and seeds don't scorch.
Step 5Remove from oven and allow to cool. Return to the large bowl and add the freeze-dried berries. Toss to combine.
Step 6Serve with milk or yogurt.
