Bisquick Sausage Balls
Bisquick sausage balls are an easy appetizer that you can throw together quickly for a holiday celebration or Super Bowl party.
- Serves: 8 persons
- For the Sausage Balls:
- 1cup cheddar cheese (freshly shredded)
- 8ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1pound breakfast-style ground pork sausage
- 1 ½cups biscuit baking mix (such as Bisquick)
- 2tablespoons half and half (or whole milk)
- 1tablespoon scallions (chopped)
- 1teaspoon onion powder
- 1teaspoon garlic powder
- ½teaspoon ground black pepper
- For the Dipping Sauce:
- ½cup mayonnaise
- 2tablespoons prepared horseradish
- 2teaspoons ketchup
- ¼teaspoon paprika
- ½teaspoon salt
- ¼teaspoon garlic powder
- 1tablespoons scallions (chopped)
- ½teaspoon black pepper
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Preheat the oven to 325 F. Combine all of the sausage ball ingredients in the bowl of a stand mixer using a paddle attachment. You can also mix it with clean hands in a large bowl. Mix until the ingredients are evenly distributed, but don’t over mix. This will make the sausage balls tough.
Step 3Use a cookie scoop to form the sausage mixture into 1-inch balls. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and add the sausage balls to the sheet. Place them slightly apart so they are not touching.
Step 4Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature should read 165 F.
Step 5As they are baking, prepare the dipping sauce.
Step 6Whisk all of the dipping sauce ingredients in a small bowl until thoroughly combined. You can make the sauce a few days ahead of time. The longer it sits, the more the flavor will develop.
Step 7Serve the sausage balls with some chopped chives and the dipping sauce. You can serve them hot or at room temperature.
