Chocolate Gravy
This rich, chocolate sauce is a staple in the American South, and is served over biscuits or with fruit, both for breakfast and for dessert.

Ingredients
- ⅓cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1cup granulated sugar
- 1teaspoon salt
- 1 ½cups whole milk
- 3tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1teaspoon vanilla extract
- To serve: 6 buttermilk biscuits

In a medium saucepan sift the cocoa powder, flour, sugar, and salt and whisk to combine.Step 3
Slowly add milk and whisk until all the lumps are gone.Step 4
Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly, until the gravy just begins to boil and then thickens.Step 5
Once thick, remove from the heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Continue stirring until the butter has melted.Step 6
Serve immediately, spooned over biscuits.
