Oatmeal Cakes

A moist and delicious bread cooked on the griddle. My mother enjoys this for dinner too!

Ingredients

• 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 ½ cups rolled oats
• 1 egg, beaten
• 0.5 cup evaporated milk
• 2 tablespoons water
• 2 tablespoons applesauce
• 1 tablespoon butter, softened

Steps

1. In a medium mixing bowl, sift together flour and baking powder. Add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each cake. Cook until bubbles form in the cakes. Flip and cook the other side. Serve warm with syrup or jam.
