Oyster Fritters Recipe
These delicious oyster fritters are covered in a thick batter then fried. Serve them with tartar sauce or cocktail sauce as a snack or appetizer.
- Serves: 6 persons
- 4cups vegetable oil
- 2eggs (slightly beaten )
- 1cup milk
- 2cups flour, 10 ounces ( dip and sweep )
- 2teaspoons baking powder
- ½teaspoon salt
- 1 ½cups oysters (drained and chopped)
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Heat about 1 to 2 inches of oil in a deep heavy skillet to about 365 F.
Step 3Whisk the eggs and milk together in a small bowl.
Step 4Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl, and blend well. Add the egg and milk mixture, and blend with a spoon until smooth.
Step 5Stir the chopped oysters into the batter, and drop by spoonful into the hot fat. A cookie scoop works well to keep them small and round.
Step 6Cook in batches, turning to brown both sides. Drain on paper towels.
Step 7Serve and enjoy.
