Espresso Martini Granita Recipe
Transform an espresso martini into an icy granita. The easy recipe uses vanilla vodka and coffee liqueur to create the spiked frozen dessert.
- Serves: 8 persons
- 2cups strongly brewed coffee
- ½cup granulated sugar
- ¼cup coffee liqueur
- ¼cup vanilla vodka
- Coffee beans, for garnish
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring the coffee to a boil. Add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat and let cool.
Step 3Stir the coffee liqueur and vanilla vodka into the coffee syrup.
Step 4Pour the liquid into an 8- or 9-inch square baking pan, cover with plastic wrap, and freeze for 1 hour.
Step 5Use a fork to mix the solid and liquid parts of the granita and return it to the freezer.
Step 6After another hour, rake the granita with the fork. Repeat this process once per hour until it's entirely frozen and flaky. Depending on your freezer, it may take 4 to 5 hours (possibly longer).
Step 7Just before serving, fork the granita one last time. Scoop into frozen cocktail glasses, garnish with a few coffee beans, and serve it with small spoons.
