St. Louis-Style Barbecue Sauce
This St. Louis-style barbecue sauce recipe is similar to the more popular Kansas City barbecue sauce, but a bit less sweet and a little tangier.
- Serves: 16 persons
- 3cups ketchup
- ½cup brown sugar
- ½cup finely minced onion
- 2cloves garlic, finely minced
- ½cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼cup brown mustard
- 2tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2tablespoons soy sauce
- 1teaspoon hot sauce
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Whisk together all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer , stirring, on low heat for 20 minutes.
Step 3Let cool to room temperature.
Step 4Use as desired. This recipe can be used as a basting sauce toward the end of cooking or brushed on after barbecuing, with additional sauce served on the side.
