Powders, syrups, and tea bags can't compare to freshly brewed masala chai. Making it from scratch with this recipe takes more time but is rewarding.

    Gather the ingredients.
  2. Step 2

    In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, water, and spices. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Add the sugar and tea leaves. Stir, and then simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Step 4

    Strain into glasses or mugs and serve.
