Korean-Style Roasted Rice Tea
Whip up a batch of Korean-style roasted rice tea. It has a nutty, smoky flavor, and is similar to Japanese genmachai.
- Serves: 20 persons
- 3cups rice (cooked, warm)
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Preheat the oven to broil. Spread the rice onto a cookie sheet, in a layer that is about 1/8 to 1/4 inches thick.
Step 3Put cookie sheets in the oven but not too close to the broiler. The sheets should remain there for at least 5 to 10 minutes per side. You'll know the rice is ready when it's brown and very crisp on each side
Step 4To make sungyung (sungyung) tea, take about 2 teaspoons of the roasted rice and steep for a few minutes in a cup of boiling hot water.
