Breaded Fried Tofu - Tofu Schnitzel (Parve)
Breaded fried tofu recipe, tofu schnitzel, that is perfect for any occasion, vegetarian or not.
- Serves: 2 persons
- 2cakes tofu (approximately 8 ounces or 250 grams each)
- 1 ½cup bread crumbs
- Paprika , garlic, salt, pepper and parsley to taste
- 2-3 eggs
- ½cup flour
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Drain tofu cakes by wrapping in paper towels and placing under a cutting board. Weigh down cutting board by placing some canned goods on top. Let stand for 10 minutes. Unwrap the tofu cakes. Slice each cake into six pieces—each approximately 1/4-inch (1-centimeter) thick.
Step 3In a shallow bowl, mix breadcrumbs with spices.
Step 4In another shallow bowl, beat eggs.
Step 5In a third shallow bowl, place flour.
Step 6Dip tofu slice into flour and shake off excess. Then dip it into egg and shake off excess. Then dip it into breadcrumbs so it is evenly coated on both sides.
Step 7Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
Step 8Fry breaded tofu in hot oil on both sides. Fry for 2 or 3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
