Homemade Mac and Cheese
This is a nice rich mac and cheese. Serve with a salad for a great meatless dinner. Hope you enjoy it.
- Serves: 4 persons
- 8ounces uncooked elbow macaroni
- ¼cup butter
- 2½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3cups milk
- 2cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- ½cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2tablespoons butter
- ½cup bread crumbs
- 1pinch paprika
Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Step 2Cook macaroni according to the package directions. Drain.
Step 3Melt butter in a medium skillet over low heat. Gradually add flour, whisking until well combined. Slowly pour in milk, whisking constantly until smooth. Stir in cheeses, and cook over low heat until cheese is melted and the sauce is a little thick. Put macaroni in large casserole dish, and pour sauce over macaroni. Stir well.
Step 4Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add breadcrumbs and brown. Spread over the macaroni and cheese to cover. Sprinkle with a little paprika.
Step 5Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Serve.
