No Bake Cookies (Without Peanut Butter)
This quick, summertime dessert is the perfect treat when you don't want to crank up the oven and don't want to use peanut butter.
- Serves: 36 persons
- 2cups granulated sugar
- ½cup unsalted butter
- ½cup milk
- ⅓cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼teaspoon salt
- 3cups quick-cooking rolled oats (uncooked)
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Line baking sheets with waxed paper and set aside. ( Parchment paper or non-stick foil also work instead of waxed paper for no bake cookies.)
Step 3In a large saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, unsalted butter, milk, cocoa powder, and salt.
Step 4Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring frequently.
Step 5Continue to boil for three minutes.
Step 6Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the oats.
Step 7Drop by spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets. Allow to sit at room temperature to firm up.
Step 8It takes about 45 minutes for no bake cookies to set up at room temperature. No bake cookies can also be placed in the fridge and will firm up in about 15 minutes.
Step 9Once firm, peel the set cookies from the waxed paper and store in an airtight container.
