Yeast Beer Bread
Beer bread is great for snacking, football games munchies, and for dipping in a bowl of super hot chili.
- Serves: 6 persons
- 1package active dry yeast
- ¼cup warm water
- 1cup beer (room temperature)
- 1tablespoon cream cheese
- 1tablespoon sugar
- 1 ½teaspoons salt
- 3cups bread flour
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2In a small bowl, mix water and yeast. Stir until yeast is dissolved.
Step 3In a large bowl, add beer, cream cheese, sugar, and salt. Pour in yeast and stir.
Step 4Mix in 2 1/2 cups flour. Turn out onto a floured board and knead in remaining 1/2 cup of flour until dough is soft and smooth.
Step 5Put dough in greased bowl and turn dough so that top is greased . Cover and let rise in warm place for about 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Step 6Punch down dough with your fist. Turn dough out onto floured board and knead for about 1 minute.
Step 7Preheat oven 375 F. Form dough into 1 loaf. Put into buttered bread pan. Cover and let rise until double in size, about 30 minutes.
Step 8Score dough by cutting 3 slashes across top with a sharp knife.
Step 9Put in oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 10Turn out bread and let cool on a rack or dish towel.
