Air Fryer Bloomin' Onion
This copycat Bloomin' Onion is light and easy to cook in the air fryer. Serve the onion petals with the tasty mayonnaise dip.

Ingredients
- For the Spicy Dip:
- ½cup mayonnaise
- 1tablespoon ketchup
- 1teaspoon horseradish
- ½teaspoon garlic powder
- ½teaspoon paprika
- ¼teaspoon dried oregano
- 1dash salt
- 1dash black pepper
- 1dash cayenne pepper
- For the Onion:
- 1large onion (sweet or yellow)
- 1 ½cups all-purpose flour
- 3large eggs
- ⅓cup buttermilk (or milk)
- 1cup plain fine breadcrumbs
- 1tablespoon Old Bay seasoning

In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, horseradish, garlic powder, paprika, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir to blend. Cover and refrigerate until serving time.Step 3
Cut the top off the onion and remove the outer peel.Step 4
Place the onion on a cutting board, cut-side down. With a sharp knife, make a cut about 1/2-inch from the root.Step 5
Make three more evenly spaced cuts around the onion. You will have 4 evenly spaced portions. Make sure you leave the root intact.Step 6
Make 2 to 3 cuts in the center of each quarter. You should have 12 to 16 cuts, depending on the size of the onion.Step 7
Turn the onion over and separate the petals slightly.Step 8
Place the onion in a bowl of ice water and let stand for 1 to 2 hours. Remove the onion to paper towels to drain.Step 9
Place the onion in a bowl and sift the flour over it while gently separating the petals. You might have to do this a few times to get good coverage. Gently turn the onion upside-down to shake off any excess.Step 10
In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the buttermilk. Place the onion in a bowl and pour the egg mixture over it, gently separating the petals. Remove the onion to a wide, shallow bowl.Step 11
Combine the breadcrumbs and Old Bay seasoning; sprinkle over the onion petals.Step 12
Set the air fryer temperature to 375 F and preheat the following the manufacturer's directions. Spray the tray with cooking oil spray and add the onion, root-side down. Cook for 15 minutes.Step 13
Serve the blooming onion immediately with the dip.
