Blackened Tilapia
This quick and easy blackened tilapia recipe is prepared with a homemade blackening seasoning and then baked in the oven for easy clean-up.

Ingredients
- For the Blackening Spice Mixture:
- 4tablespoons paprika
- 1 ½tablespoons salt
- 1tablespoon granulated garlic
- 1tablespoon onion powder
- 1tablespoon black pepper
- ½tablespoon white pepper
- ½tablespoon cayenne pepper
- ½tablespoon dried oregano
- ½tablespoon dried basil
- 1teaspoon dried thyme
- For the Tilapia:
- 4(5-ounce) tilapia fillets
- 2tablespoons olive oil
- For the Tartar Sauce:
- ½cup mayonnaise
- 2tablespoons sweet pickle relish
- 1tablespoon lemon juice
- 1tablespoon capers
- 1teaspoon coarse-grain mustard
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- For Garnish:
- ¼cup fresh parsley (chopped)
- Lemon wedges

Preheat oven to 425 F. Line a baking sheet with nonstick foil.Step 3
To prepare blackening spice mixture, stir together paprika, salt, granulated garlic, onion powder, black pepper, white pepper, cayenne pepper, dried oregano, dried basil, and dried thyme in a small bowl.Step 4
Brush both sides of tilapia fillets with oil.Step 5
Cover fillets with blackening seasoning on both sides and press to adhere.Step 6
Place fillets on prepared baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes.Step 7
Meanwhile, prepare tartar sauce. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, lemon juice, capers, and mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste.Step 8
The fish is done when it is nicely browned and flakes with a fork. Top with chopped fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
