Big, Bold, and Spicy Texas Barbecue Sauce
Everything's bigger in Texas, including the flavor of our spicy Texas barbecue sauce, traditionally used with beef.
- Serves: 48 persons
- 1 ½cups ketchup
- ½cup cider vinegar
- ½cup sugar
- ½cup water
- 2tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1tablespoon chili powder
- 1teaspoon cumin
- ½teaspoon cayenne (or to taste)
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Whisk together the ketchup, vinegar, sugar, water, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cumin and cayenne in a saucepan, bring to a low simmer.
Step 3Once sauce reaches a simmer, immediately turn off the heat. Let the sauce cool to room temperature. This can be used as a basting sauce toward the end of the cooking time of your meat or brushed on after barbecuing, with additional sauce served on the side.
