Creme Brulee French Toast
This crème brûlée French toast recipe is soaked overnight and then baked. The result is a delicious puffy French toast with a crunchy crust.

Ingredients
- ½cup unsalted butter
- ¾cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1loaf brioche (about 8 inches)
- 4eggs
- 2egg yolks
- 1cup heavy cream
- ½cup whole milk
- 2teaspoons vanilla
- 1 ½teaspoon cinnamon
- ½teaspoon nutmeg
- ½teaspoon salt
- Garnish: 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- Serving suggestion: maple syrup and fresh fruit

In a small heavy saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Pour mixture into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.Step 3
Cut brioche into 6 to 8 thick slices and arrange the slices in one layer in a baking dish with melted butter mixture, squeezing them slightly to fit.Step 4
In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs, egg yolks, heavy cream, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until combined well. Pour evenly over bread.Step 5
Cover and chill bread mixture in the fridge for at least 8 hours and up to 1 day.Step 6
When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 F. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, covering with foil halfway through, or until slightly puffed and edges are pale golden.Step 7
Sprinkle an even layer of granulated sugar and brûlée with a kitchen torch or broil on high for about 3 minutes, or until golden brown caramelized bubbles appear.Step 8
Serve with maple syrup and fresh fruit.
