No-Yeast Beer Bread
No yeast? No problem! It's easy to make a beautiful loaf of bread using your favorite beer. In under an hour you have warm loaf fresh from the oven.
- Serves: 8 persons
- 3cups self-rising flour
- ¼cup sugar
- ½teaspoon salt
- 1(12-ounce) can beer
- ½cup butter (melted)
Step 1Gather the ingredients. Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
Step 2In a large mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour, sugar, and salt.
Step 3Pour in the beer and stir to combine.
Step 4Spoon the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Pour the warm, melted butter carefully over the top of the batter. It will not be absorbed into the batter until the baking begins.
Step 5Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until golden brown. Insert a toothpick or metal skewer to the center of the loaf. If it comes out dry and clean, it is done.
Step 6Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes.
Step 7Holding a wire rack against the top of the loaf and quickly, but carefully turn it upside down so the top of the loaf is on the bottom. Set aside to cool. This will allow the butter to drift back into the loaf.
Step 8Once cool, slice and serve. Enjoy with a pat of butter and your favorite beer!
