Hamburger and noodles or pasta team up in this skillet recipe, an all-in-one dinner in a skillet. It's fast and easy and budget-friendly.
- Serves: 6 persons
- 2slices bacon
- 1cup chopped onion
- 1pound lean ground beef
- 1(14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- ½cup chopped green bell pepper
- ¼cup mild chili sauce
- 2tablespoons tomato paste
- 1teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
- ½teaspoon garlic powder
- Dash freshly ground black pepper
- 3cups egg noodles, uncooked
- ¾cup water, or as needed
Step 1In a large heavy skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove to paper towels and set aside.
Step 2Add onion to the bacon drippings and cook for 2 minutes. Crumble the ground beef into the skillet and continue cooking until the beef is no longer pink, stirring frequently.
Step 3Add the tomatoes, green bell pepper, chili sauce, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, and a dash of pepper. Stir to blend.
Step 4Add the uncooked noodles or pasta to the ground beef mixture along with the water.
Step 5Cover the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 30 minutes, or until the noodles are tender. Check after about 20 minutes and add more water, if necessary.
Step 6Crumble the drained bacon and add it to the dish or use it as a garnish.
