Hamburger and Pasta Skillet

Ingredients
- 2slices bacon
- 1cup chopped onion
- 1pound lean ground beef
- 1(14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes
- ½cup chopped green bell pepper
- ¼cup mild chili sauce
- 2tablespoons tomato paste
- 1teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
- ½teaspoon garlic powder
- Dash freshly ground black pepper
- 3cups egg noodles, uncooked
- ¾cup water, or as needed
Instructions
Step 1
In a large heavy skillet, cook bacon until crisp; remove to paper towels and set aside.Step 2
Add onion to the bacon drippings and cook for 2 minutes. Crumble the ground beef into the skillet and continue cooking until the beef is no longer pink, stirring frequently.Step 3
Add the tomatoes, green bell pepper, chili sauce, tomato paste, garlic powder, salt, and a dash of pepper. Stir to blend.Step 4
Add the uncooked noodles or pasta to the ground beef mixture along with the water.Step 5
Cover the pan and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 30 minutes, or until the noodles are tender. Check after about 20 minutes and add more water, if necessary.Step 6
Crumble the drained bacon and add it to the dish or use it as a garnish.
