Basil Lemonade Recipe
A delicious lemonade made with the addition of basil for a twist on this refreshing drink. Enjoy as is or mix with alcohol for an adult beverage.
- Serves: 6 persons
- 1cup granulated sugar
- 1cup firmly packed basil leaves
- 1tablespoon lemon zest
- 1 ¼cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2In a medium saucepan, muddle the sugar, basil, and lemon zest until the flavors are released, about one minute.
Step 3Add 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring frequently. Once it comes to a boil, remove from heat and let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
Step 4Strain the mixture into a large pitcher. Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water and lemon juice. Stir well.
Step 5Serve over ice and garnish with fresh basil and lemon slices.
