Brown Sugar Pecan Pie
This pecan pie is made with brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, vanilla, and pecans. This recipe uses a flaky butter-and-shortening pie pastry.

Ingredients
- For the Pie Pastry:
- 1cup all-purpose flour
- ⅔cup cake flour
- 1tablespoon powdered sugar
- ½teaspoon kosher salt
- 4tablespoons cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 5tablespoons shortening, cut into small pieces
- ¼cup ice cold water
- 1egg white , lightly beaten, optional
- For the Pecan Pie Filling:
- 3large eggs, beaten
- 1cup light corn syrup
- 1cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2tablespoons butter, melted
- 1teaspoon vanilla extract
- ⅛teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 ¼cups pecan halves
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving, optional
