Try the original Buffalo chicken wing recipe from the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY. The wings are deep-fried and then tossed in a spicy sauce.
- Serves: 5 persons
- 2 ½pounds chicken wings (12 to 16 whole wings separated into "flat" and "drummette" pieces)
- Neutral cooking oil (like canola or peanut ; for frying)
- ½cup Anchor Bar Wing Sauce (medium)
- For serving: blue cheese dressing and celery sticks
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Dry wing pieces well with paper towel.
Step 3Heat a large pot filled with 2 to 3 inches of the cooking oil to 350 F. Set the oven to warm.
Step 4Place a few wings at a time in the hot oil to fry. Do not crowd the pot.
Step 5Fry for 10 to 12 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
Step 6Remove with a slotted spoon to a baking sheet and place in the oven to keep warm while you cook the remaining wings.
Step 7After all of the wings are cooked, transfer to a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot sauce over the hot wings and toss with a spoon or spatula to completely coat.
Step 8Serve immediately with celery and blue cheese dressing on the side. Enjoy.
