Loukoumades (Greek Doughnuts) Recipe
Loukoumades is the Greek version of a doughnut. The biggest change is that they are topped with honey.

Ingredients
- 1tablespoon yeast
- 1cup water (lukewarm for yeast)
- 5 ½cups flour
- 1teaspoon salt
- Warm water
- 2cups sugar
- 1cup honey
- 1cup water
- Garnish: cinnamon
- 1cup oil (more or less for frying)
Instructions
Step 1
Clean off a space to place the freshly cooked doughnuts. Spread newspaper and paper towels over the top of it.Step 2
Dissolve the yeast in 1 cup lukewarm water and let it set for 10 to 15 minutes.Step 3
Sift the flour and salt together. Make a hole in the flour and pour in the yeast mixture.Step 4
Combine the mixture gently while continuously adding more warm until a soft and sticky dough forms.Step 5
Cover the dough with a clean, damp dishtowel.Step 6
Allow the dough to double in size.Step 7
Bring the sugar, honey, and 1 cup water to a boil and boil it for 6 minutes.Step 8
Remove it from the high heat, but keep it warm.Step 9
Heat oil in a deep fryer or in a deep skillet.Step 10
Use a tablespoon measuring spoon to drop the batter into the hot oil.Step 11
When the batter begins to float, and it is golden and puffy, remove it to drain on paper towels.Step 12
Place the doughnuts on a serving platter. Lastly, pour the syrup over the hot doughnuts and sprinkle them with cinnamon.
