How to Prepare Yuca Frites
Next time you want to try something new, Yuca frites are a good substitute for french fries. They look alike and taste similar, too.
- Serves: 4 persons
- 6-8 garlic cloves
- 2bay leaves
- 2tablespoons salt
- 3-4 quarts water
- 1 ½pounds yuca (washed, peeled, and sliced into fries)
- 4tablespoons vegetable oil for skillet-frying
Step 1In a saucepan, combine garlic, bay leaves, salt, and water.
Step 2Bring the mixture to a boil.
Step 3Add the Yuca, reduce the heat to medium, and simmer until yuca is tender, but not sticky or falling apart, about 30 minutes.
Step 4Drain the yuca on paper towels. When cool enough to handle, pat the yuca dry.
Step 5In a fryer or deep skillet, heat the oil to 375 F.
Step 6Fry the yuca until golden, drain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt, and serve hot with Garlic Dipping Sauce
