Apple Crisp Pie
Not good with the top crust of an apple pie? Try this scrumptious recipe that uses an easy-peasy oat or pecan streusel topping!

Ingredients
- For the Filling:
- 5to 6 cups apples (thinly sliced; a combination of varieties)
- 1lemon (juiced)
- ½cup granulated sugar
- ¼cup brown sugar (packed)
- ¼cup melted butter
- 3tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ⅛teaspoon nutmeg
- 1deep-dish pie shell (unbaked, 9-inch)
- For the Topping:
- ½cup all-purpose flour
- ½cup granulated sugar
- 6tablespoons butter (cut into small pieces)
- ¼cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans

Gather the ingredients.Step 2
Peel the apples; core them and cut into thin slices. Toss the sliced apples in a bowl with lemon juice to keep them from browning.Step 3
Add the granulated sugar, the brown sugar, melted butter, flour, and spices. Stir until mixture is well blended.Step 4
Prepare the pie pastry; fit into a pie plate and set aside.Step 5
Heat the oven to 375 F.Step 6
In a large bowl, combine the topping ingredients; blend with a pastry blender, two forks, or your fingers. Alternatively, pulse the ingredients a few times in a food processor.Step 7
Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie shell. Sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over top of apples.Step 8
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about 45 to 60 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is browned.Step 9
