Bischopswijn (Dutch Mulled Wine)
This recipe for bischopswijn is the Dutch version of gluhwein, a delicious mulled wine that is traditionally consumed on Sinterklaas.

Ingredients
- 1 ½bottles of red wine (e.g., a Cabernet Sauvignon )
- 2oranges
- 1lemon
- 15cloves (approximately)
- 4cinnamon sticks
- ½cup white sugar

Gather the ingredients.Step 2
Decant the wine into a large, thick-bottomed soup pot.Step 3
Spike the oranges and lemon with the cloves, and add to the wine, along with the cinnamon sticks.Step 4
Heat slowly over very low heat for 3 hours. The liquid should not boil. (This would make the alcohol evaporate.)Step 5
Add the sugar towards the end, and make sure that it dissolves completely.Step 6
Remove the fruit and spices, and serve.Step 7
