Pepper Cookies I
Spicy rolled cookies. Frost with your favorite vanilla icing.
- Serves: 3 persons
Ingredients
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼cup finely ground almonds
- 1teaspoon baking soda
- 1teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1teaspoon ground ginger
- ½teaspoon ground allspice
- ½teaspoon salt
- 1cup shortening
- 1cup white sugar
- 1egg
- ½cup corn syrup

Step 1
Combine the flour, almonds, baking soda, spices and salt.Step 2
In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar. Beat in the egg, beat in the corn syrup. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.Step 3
Cover and chill for 8 hours.Step 4
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).Step 5
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch. Using cookie cutters, cut into shapes and place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly colored. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
