Garlic Mashed Potatoes With Parmesan Cheese
These mashed potatoes are made with plenty of garlic, along with butter and milk. Parmesan cheese is optional, but it makes a nice addition.

Ingredients
- 7cups baking potatoes ( russets , peeled and cubed)
- 6cloves garlic (peeled)
- ½cup milk (low-fat, regular, or half-and-half)
- 2tablespoons butter (or more if you like)
- ½teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ⅛teaspoon ground black pepper (or to taste)
- Optional: 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated, optional)
Instructions
Step 1
Place potatoes and peeled garlic in a large saucepan; cover with water and then bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pan. Simmer the potatoes for about 20 minutes, or until fork tender.Step 2
Drain the potatoes and garlic thoroughly and return them to the pan or to a large mixing bowl.Step 3
Meanwhile, combine the milk and butter in a cup and microwave just until hot.Step 4
Add the hot milk and butter mixture to the potatoes; mash until smooth, adding salt and pepper, to taste. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, if using.Step 5
If using an electric mixer, avoid overmixing.
