Double Anise Biscotti
Here is a recipe for Double Anise Biscotti, the perfect accompaniment for coffee or tea. They also make Christmas gifts for family or friends.
- Serves: 24 persons
- 3 ¼cups flour
- 1tablespoon baking powder
- ¾teaspoon salt
- 1 ½cups sugar
- 10tablespoons butter (melted)
- 3large eggs
- 1tablespoon anise extract
- 2teaspoons ground aniseed
- 1cup slivered almond (lightly-toasted and hand-crushed)
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Preheat to 350 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 3Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt with a wire whisk .
Step 4Using an electric mixer or stand mixer with a paddle attachment, cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
Step 5Add eggs in one at a time.
Step 6Mix in the anise extract and ground seeds.
Step 7Gradually add in flour mixture until well combined.
Step 8Add and hand-stir almonds.
Step 9Divide dough in half. Shape into logs or any desired shape and place on sheet.
Step 10Bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes, and cool completely—about 25 minutes.
Step 11Slice logs diagonally. Discard parchment and place log slices cut-side down on the baking sheet . Bake for 12 minutes. Turn and bake for another 8 minutes or until just beginning to color.
Step 12Serve and enjoy with coffee or tea.
