Spaghetti Pie With Ground Beef and Cheese
Ground beef, vegetables, and cheese make up the filling for this delicious spaghetti pie. And, the casserole is baked with a mozzarella cheese topping.
- Serves: 6 persons
- 6ounces spaghetti
- 2large eggs
- ¼cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1pound lean ground beef
- 1small onion, chopped
- 8ounces sliced mushrooms
- 1(16-ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
- 1cup canned whole kernel corn, drained, or frozen and thawed
- 1green bell pepper, sliced into rings or strips
- 1cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Step 2Grease a 9-inch square baking dish, or a large deep-dish pie plate.
Step 3Cook the spaghetti in boiling salted water following the package instructions; drain thoroughly and set aside.
Step 4In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs with the Parmesan cheese. Add the cooked, drained spaghetti and toss to blend.
Step 5Transfer the spaghetti mixture to the prepared baking dish. Press it over the bottom and up sides of pan to form a "crust."
Step 6In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef with onion and mushrooms; drain well. Stir the spaghetti sauce and corn into the beef mixture.
Step 7Spoon the beef and sauce mixture into the spaghetti "crust." Top with bell pepper rings or strips and then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Step 8Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the filling is hot and bubbly, and the cheese has melted and browned lightly.
