This is the traditional marinade recipe for Korean bulgogi, which is a marinated steak cut into strips and served up on lettuce leaves or rice.
- Serves: 4 persons
- ½cup soy sauce
- ⅓cup sugar
- 3tablespoons sake
- 2tablespoons sesame oil
- 8cloves garlic, minced
- 4scallions, minced
- 2tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
- ½teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Step 1Heat sesame oil in a small saucepan.
Step 2Add garlic and cook for one minute.
Step 3Add remaining ingredients, except green onions, and let the sauce cook over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the sugar has dissolved completely.
Step 4Add green onions, promptly remove from heat and let the mix cool completely before using as a marinade.
