Easy 4-Ingredient Baked Brisket
An easy way to cook baked brisket using only four main ingredients. This recipe uses red wine and dry soup mix to amp up the flavor of the meat.
- Serves: 8 persons
- ½sweet onion, thinly sliced
- ½cup red wine
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1(3- to 4-pound) flat-cut beef brisket, fat-cap on
- 1(1-ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Preheat oven to 450 F. Line a baking pan with foil.
Step 3Make a bed of sliced sweet onion in a baking pan. Cover onions with red wine.
Step 4Sprinkle meaty side of brisket generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Turn over brisket and place on top of the bed of onions, fat side up.
Step 5Sprinkle top ( fat side) of brisket evenly with dry onion soup mix and more freshly ground black pepper .
Step 6Place in oven, uncovered, and bake for 15 minutes. Remove after 15 minutes, cover tightly with foil. Lower heat to 325 F. Return covered pan to oven and bake an additional 1 1/2 hours.
Step 7Remove pan from oven and let rest, still covered, for 15 minutes. Uncover and let rest an additional 15 minutes before slicing brisket across the grain to serve.
