Green Beans Supreme With Sour Cream
This special green bean casserole recipe with onion, sour cream, and shredded cheese, topped with breadcrumbs. It makes a great holiday dinner side dish.

Ingredients
- 1pound green beans (fresh)
- 1small onion (halved and thinly sliced)
- 1tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)
- 3tablespoons butter ( divided )
- 2tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½teaspoon lemon zest (finely grated)
- ½teaspoon salt
- 1dash freshly ground black pepper
- ½cup milk
- 1cup reduced-fat sour cream
- ½cup mild cheddar or American cheese (shredded)
- ¼cup fine dry breadcrumbs

Gather the ingredients.Step 2
Cook fresh-cut beans until just crisp-tender. Or use frozen beans, cooked according to package directions; drain.Step 3
Cook onion and parsley in 2 tablespoons of the butter over medium heat until onion is tender.Step 4
Blend in flour, lemon zest, salt, and pepper.Step 5
Add milk; cook until thickened and bubbly, stirring constantly.Step 6
Stir hot mixture into sour cream and cooked beans; heat until sauce just begins to bubble.Step 7
Spoon into a 1- to 1 1/2-quart casserole; sprinkle cheese over the top.Step 8
Melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter and toss with breadcrumbs.Step 9
Sprinkle breadcrumb mixture over the cheese.Step 10
Broil about 5 inches from broiler until cheese melts and crumbs brown, about 1 to 2 minutes.Step 11
