Cinnamon Dessert Bread With Icing

Everyone will love cinnamon dessert bread. This bread is lightly spiced with cinnamon and smothered in a simple white vanilla icing.

  1. Step 1

    Gather the ingredients.
  2. Step 2

    In a medium bowl, stir together the milk, water, and 1 tablespoon of butter. Add sugar, yeast, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until dissolved. Add raisins, if desired.

    Mix in the bread flour, a half cup at a time, to form the dough.

    Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead it for about 5 minutes. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour a tablespoon at a time.

    Grease a medium bowl. Put the dough into the bowl and turn it over so that the dough is greased on the top . Cover and let it rise in warm place for about 45 minutes or until double in size.

    Punch down the dough by making a fist with your hand and pushing it firmy into the center of the dough. Then fold the edges of the dough to the center, forming the deflated dough into a ball.

    Turn out the dough onto floured board and knead it for about 3 minutes. Shape the dough into a loaf.

    Grease a loaf pan. Put the loaf into the pan, cover with a clean cloth, and allow it to rise for about 30 minutes or until double in size. While bread is rising, preheat oven to 350 F.

    Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

    Remove the loaf from pan and let it cool to warm on a rack or clean cloth.

    In a medium bowl, make the icing by mixing together the confectioners' sugar, milk, melted butter , and vanilla extract until smooth.

    Spread the icing over the cooled bread.
