French Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

Ingredients
- 16ounces small macaroni
- 1clove garlic , cut in half lengthwise
- 2tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 ¼cups crème fraîche
- 2cups Gruyère cheese , shredded, divided
- 2cups Cantal cheese, shredded, divided
- ½teaspoon salt
- ¼teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- ⅓cup dry breadcrumbs

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 F.Step 2
Prepare the macaroni according to package instructions and drain it.Step 3
While the macaroni is boiling, rub the cut end of the garlic across the entire inner surface of a 3-quart baking dish.Step 4
Brush the same surface with the melted butter.Step 5
Pour the drained macaroni into the prepared baking dish.Step 6
Stir the crème fraiche, 1 1/2 cups of the shredded cheeses, salt, and pepper into the pasta.Step 7
Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and the remaining Gruyère and Cantal over the surface of the macaroni and cheese.Step 8
Bake the casserole, uncovered, for 20 to 25 minutes, until it is hot and bubbly throughout and turns light golden brown on top.Step 9
Serve immediately.
