Portuguese Tomato Sauce
The Portuguese sauce is a hearty tomato sauce made with sautéed onions, garlic, tomato concassé, and parsley. Are your taste buds ready?
- Serves: 8 persons
- 1quart tomato sauce
- ¾cup finely chopped onion
- 2cups tomato concassé
- 1clove garlic, minced
- ¼cup chopped fresh parsley
- dash kosher salt, or to taste
- dash freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, sauté the onions until they're translucent, about 5 minutes.
Step 3Add the tomatoes and garlic and continue to sauté until the tomatoes are soft, about 10 minutes.
Step 4Add the tomato sauce, bring to a simmer and reduce for about 10 minutes.
Step 5Season with the salt and pepper and serve right away.
