Eggs in a Basket
Our eggs in a basket recipe is easy enough for kids to make; simply cut out the center of a piece of toast, break an egg in the hole, cook and serve!

Ingredients
- 3teaspoons butter (divided)
- 2slices whole-wheat bread
- 2large eggs
- Kosher salt (to taste)
- Freshly ground pepper (to taste)
Instructions
Step 1
Gather the ingredients.Step 2
Use a cookie cutter to cut out your favorite shape in the center of each piece of bread.Step 3
Butter 1 side of each piece of bread, including the cutout pieces, with the remaining butter.Step 4
Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and melt 1 teaspoon of butter in the pan.Step 5
Place the bread on the griddle with the butter-side down.Step 6
Break 1 egg into a small dish and gently slide it into the hole in the bread.Step 7
If the pan is big enough to cook both at the same time, repeat the process with the remaining egg and bread slice.Step 8
Cook until the egg is golden on the bottom, 1 to 2 minutes.Step 9
Gently flip to cook on the other side, about 1 minute. Place on serving plate and sprinkle with salt and pepper.Step 10
Toast the cutout pieces on both sides, approximately 1 minute per side.Step 11
Serve the toast immediately and decorate with the cutout pieces.
