Eggs in a Basket

Our eggs in a basket recipe is easy enough for kids to make; simply cut out the center of a piece of toast, break an egg in the hole, cook and serve!

  1. Step 1

    Gather the ingredients.
  2. Step 2

    Use a cookie cutter to cut out your favorite shape in the center of each piece of bread.
  3. Step 3

    Butter 1 side of each piece of bread, including the cutout pieces, with the remaining butter.
  4. Step 4

    Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat and melt 1 teaspoon of butter in the pan.

    Place the bread on the griddle with the butter-side down.
  6. Step 6

    Break 1 egg into a small dish and gently slide it into the hole in the bread.
  7. Step 7

    If the pan is big enough to cook both at the same time, repeat the process with the remaining egg and bread slice.

    Cook until the egg is golden on the bottom, 1 to 2 minutes.
  9. Step 9

    Gently flip to cook on the other side, about 1 minute. Place on serving plate and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

    Toast the cutout pieces on both sides, approximately 1 minute per side.
  11. Step 11

    Serve the toast immediately and decorate with the cutout pieces.
