Glazed Carrots With Five Spice Powder
This easy recipe for five spice powdered glazed carrots makes a nice side dish for a family dinner or holiday occasion.
- Serves: 4 persons
- 3cups carrots, (chopped on the diagonal into 1/4 to 1/2 inch pieces)
- ¾cup water
- 2tablespoons light soy sauce
- 2tablespoons brown sugar
- 2tablespoons butter
- 1teaspoon five-spice powder
Step 1Wash and chop the carrots. Combine the water, soy sauce, and sugar and set aside.
Step 2Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the carrots.
Step 3Add the five-spice powder , stirring in with the carrots.
Step 4Add the water, soy sauce, and sugar mixture. Bring to a boil.
Step 5Lower the heat, cover and gently simmer the carrots until they are tender and pierce easily with a fork, about 10 minutes.
Step 6Remove the lid. Turn the heat up to high and cook the carrots, stirring occasionally, until the liquid is burned off (5 to 7 minutes). Serve hot.
