Easy Cheese Bourekas (Dairy)
An easy recipe for Israeli Cheese Bourekas, made with a mozzarella cheese filling baked in sesame seed-topped puff pastry.

- 1egg (lightly beaten)
- 8ounces (1 3/4 cups or 225 grams) cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1teaspoon dried parsley
- ½teaspoon garlic salt
- ¼teaspoon pepper
- 18 ½ounce (450 grams) package frozen puff pastry
- 1large egg (lightly beaten)
- Sesame seeds to garnish
Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 F / 180 C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2In a bowl, mix the egg, cheese, parsley, garlic salt, and pepper.
Step 3Using a sharp knife, cut the puff pastry into 5-inch squares.
Step 4Place a heaping tablespoon of cheese filling in each square.
Step 5Dampen the edges of the squares with water, and fold in half diagonally to form triangular pastries.
Step 6Pinch the edges together to seal the filling inside.
Step 7Brush the tops of the bourekas with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Step 8Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden, and the filling is cooked through. Serve immediately.
