Maple Syrup Barbecue Sauce
This thick, sweet, barbecue sauce that has a fantastic flavor and works well on pork and poultry.
- Serves: 64 persons
- 1cup ketchup
- 1cup onion (finely chopped)
- ¾cup maple syrup
- ¼cup lemon juice
- ¼cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
- ¼cup water
- 2tablespoon garlic (finely chopped)
- 2tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2teaspoon lemon zest
- ½teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon coriander
Step 1Gather the ingredients.
Step 2Combine all sauce ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to a simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, uncovered, stirring often.
Step 3Once cooked through and thickened, remove from heat. Let sauce cool for 10 to 15 minutes before using.
Step 4If making a few days ahead of time, let mixture cool completely, about 30 minutes. Store in a container with lid in refrigerator for up to a month. Reheat in microwave for a minute or two before using on grilled meats.
