T-Bone Grilled Steak and Mushrooms
Love steak topped with sauteed toppings? This grill steak and mushrooms recipe will quickly become a favorite!
- Serves: 4 persons
- 4t-bone steaks (1-inch thick, about 3/4-pound/340 g apiece)
- 2cups/475 mL low sodium beef broth
- 8ounces/225 g mushrooms (cremini or button, sliced)
- 2tablespoons/30 mL heavy cream
- 2tablespoons/30 mL butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Step 1Preheat grill to high heat.
Step 2For charcoal make a two-layer fire, so you have a hot side and a medium-hot side.
Step 3Melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
Step 4Add mushrooms to the frying pan and saute until mushrooms have sweated off most of their moisture.
Step 5Add beef broth to the frying pan and stir, reducing the heat until the liquid starts to thicken.
Step 6Add heavy cream to the frying pan and turn heat to low.
Step 7Season t-bone steaks with salt and pepper as desired.
Step 8Place on hot grill and cook for about 90 seconds to 2 minutes per side, as long as you get good grill marks.
Step 9Reduce heat or move to the medium-hot side of the grill. Continue grilling for 5 to 7 minutes or until the steaks reach the desired doneness .
Step 10Remove steaks from the grill then cover and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
Step 11Give the mushrooms a stir.
Step 12When steaks are ready, plate, and top with 1/4 of the mushrooms each.
